Background of the Study

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are essential metrics that help organizations track progress toward their strategic goals. These indicators provide insights into financial performance, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and employee productivity (Johnson & Adebayo, 2023). In the food and beverage industry, effective use of KPIs is crucial for sustaining business growth, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining competitive advantage.

Nestlé Nigeria, a subsidiary of Nestlé S.A., is a leading multinational food company operating in various states, including Taraba. The company relies on KPIs to monitor production efficiency, sales performance, and supply chain effectiveness. However, achieving consistent business growth depends on how well these KPIs are utilized in decision-making (Ogunleye & Bello, 2024).

This study investigates the role of KPIs in driving business growth in Nestlé Nigeria, Taraba State. It examines how organizations measure performance, interpret KPI results, and use insights to improve operations and profitability.

Statement of the Problem

Despite the importance of KPIs, many organizations struggle with identifying the right metrics, interpreting data accurately, and linking performance indicators to business growth. In Nestlé Nigeria, there may be challenges in aligning KPIs with long-term strategic objectives, leading to inefficiencies in performance measurement (Obi & Salami, 2024). Without proper utilization of KPIs, businesses may face stagnation, reduced profitability, and operational setbacks.

Existing studies on performance measurement in manufacturing firms have primarily focused on financial indicators, with limited research on a comprehensive KPI framework that includes customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and innovation. This study aims to bridge this gap by investigating how KPI implementation influences business growth in Nestlé Nigeria, Taraba State.
